In what is still being seen as a controversial trip, Sen. Chris Van Hollen announced that he planned to fly to El Salvador two days ago.
His goal?
Sen. Van Hollen aims to check onKilmar Abrego Garcia's well-being and hold constructive conversation with government officials regarding his release.
Tonight, he sat down with Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
On X, at approximately 8:59pm, Sen. Van Hollen said he accomplished his main goal on the trip to El Salvador.
The senator also spoke with Garcia's wife, Jennifer, passing along his message of love.
He went on to say he will provide a full update upon his return to Maryland.

Minutes before Sen. Van Hollen posted on X, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele shared a post showing his meeting with the senator and Kilmar Abrego Garcia, saying
